Our approach
hueday9 has no account system and no developer-operated server. Neither the developer nor any third party receives the photos you take. The only time a photo leaves your device is when it is backed up to your own iCloud. This policy simply describes what the app does and does not do.
Information we collect
hueday9 collects no personal information. There is no field anywhere in the app for a name or an email address, and no advertising SDK is bundled. There is no identifier for you, and no tracking for advertising. The iCloud backup is stored in an area the developer cannot read, so it does not amount to collection either. Because nothing is collected in the first place, no special action is required when a child uses the app.
The one exception is when you write to us yourself through the contact form on the support page. In that case what you write reaches the developer through Google Forms (Google LLC). The form is configured not to collect email addresses, so not even the developer can tell who sent it. We use what you write only to investigate problems and improve the app.
Measurement to improve the app
Since the August 2026 update, the app records which screen you stopped on and whether it crashed, and sends that to the developer. The point is to fix what is actually hard to use rather than what the developer imagines is hard to use. It goes to Google Firebase (Google LLC), and the developer only ever looks at the aggregated result.
What is sent: the name of the screen you opened, how many photos you had collected and how far you had got, how long it took, and crash reports. The photos themselves, the colors taken from them, your location, and the actual times you did things are not sent. Nothing in it identifies you.
You can turn it off at any time from Settings → Improve the app inside the app. Once it is off, nothing further is sent.
Device permissions
The app may ask for two permissions through the standard iOS dialogs.
- Camera: to photograph things that match the color of the day
- Add to Photo Library: to save a finished 3×3 page to your camera roll
If you decline either one, you can still use much of the app, for example by picking existing photos from your library. Location permission is never requested.
Where photos and pages are stored
Every photo you take and every page you finish is stored in the app's private area on your device. That is where the originals live.
When the device is signed in to iCloud, finished pages (the nine photos of the 3×3 grid, plus the date, color, and similar details) are also stored in the private database of your iCloud account. Apple manages that area under your account, and the developer has no way to look inside it or take anything out of it. Other people never see it. The backup copies are scaled down to a display-friendly size (1024 pixels on the long edge) before they are stored, and the originals on your device are left untouched. Photos from a page you have not finished yet are never backed up.
Because of that backup, your pages come back when you delete and reinstall the app, or move to a new device, as long as you use the same Apple Account. To stop it, open the iPhone Settings app, tap your name, go to iCloud, and turn hueday9 off. A backup you already made can be removed with "Delete all data" in the app's settings. If you are not signed in to iCloud, every feature still works exactly as before.
Sharing
When you want to show a finished page to a friend, you export a share card and pick the destination yourself through the iOS share sheet (Messages, LINE, saving to Photos, and so on). No other users appear inside hueday9, and nothing is ever sent to anyone automatically.
Notifications
If you turn notifications on in Settings, the app shows at most one reminder per day. It is a local notification scheduled on the device itself, with no external push server involved. You can turn it off at any time.
Deleting your data
"Delete all data" in Settings removes every photo and page you have collected, including the copies held in iCloud.
If you only delete the app, the photos and pages on the device go away but the iCloud backup remains — that is what makes reinstalling bring them back. To remove the backup as well, run "Delete all data" before you delete the app, or remove it from iCloud storage management in the Settings app.
Changes to this policy
We may revise this policy as needed. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
